(I already have a cat, and we have now moved to a flat. I was wondering if the companionship would be good for her.)
Answer:
Any shelter cat could be a good choice. The breed isn't overly important, but rather the personalities of the individual cat. When you're at the shelter, they usually have cards attached to their enclosures that give a bit of history. Make sure that the history lists that the cat likes other cats. Since you already have a cat, that should be the most important factor in your decision. Sometimes, too, a shelter will have a "communal" cat room - cats that the shelter has established will get along with other cats, and are healthy, sometimes live in a big room together, rather than individual enclosures.
You didn't mention the age of your cat, but I would suggest getting another one that is about the same age. It can be helpful if they are at approximately the same life stages. Also, make sure that your existing cat would be open to having a companion. Some cats are perfectly happy being an "only child".
