(not allergic to him. I find this amasing BTW. I want to get him an adopted brother. I am allergic to domestic longhair, siamese, angora and domestic shorthair for sure. Are there any other breeds, other than siberian, that are great for people with allergies? Personal experiences-please share.)
Answer :
had Devon Rex's my whole life. They are hypoallergenic cats because most people are allergic to the long guard fur found on other breeds, Devon Rex's don't actually have this fur.
If you decide to get a Devon Rex they are the most wonderful cats in the world but there are a few things you need to know about them:
1. They cannot go outside under any circumstances (because they don't have the long guard fur they are prone to sunburn and colds, which they can get from the slightest breeze)
2. All vaccinations and needles need to be given on the inside of their back legs as they loose the fur around the injection site permanently
3. They all have a very unique personality so make sure you like the one you get
4. There is no such thing as a mixed Devon Rex or an inbreed Devon Rex as their genetic make-up doesn't mix well with other breeds or even with their own and they end up looking like a short hair tabby.
