(My dad is allergic to all cat breeds except the siberian. We know a family with many purebreed siberians and he is not allergic to them. We want to rescue a cat but were wondering if siberian mixes would trigger allergies?)
Answer:
Most people that are allergic to cats are not allergic to the Siberian. If your dad is one that has allergies to cats but can co-exist with a Siberian, then getting a rescue cat is not for your situation.
I am a professional breeder of Siberians. In fact I am the one that *discovered* the hypoallergenic qualities of the Siberian and went on TV along with my vet back in 1997 to tell the world of this wonderful phenomenon.
Since Siberians are so rare approximately 5000 in America as opposed to 72 million felines, where exactly do you hope to find a Siberian mix?
